This is a pivotal leadership position suitable for a candidate with a demonstrable track record of success and results in a construction senior management role. This is a large and complex delivery organisation where the role involves strategic design, engineering and operational management accountability, teamed with a high need for stakeholder engagement.

You will need an in depth understanding of the particular demands of developing and managing the delivery of complex services in large scale organisations, including the delivery of high value services in a political context.

Technical and specialist capabilities

  • Engineering, Architecture or building sector qualification

Knowledge and skills

  • A high level technical understanding of the New Zealand development and building industry, design, building code and building processes.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to facilitate outcomes through personal credibility and influence – an effective leadership presence with peers
  • Programme and Project Managing experience through the construction lifecycle
  • Experience in developing and communicating engineering and design guidance and legal frameworks
  • A sound knowledge of New Zealand’s weathertightness and seismic design and product issues
  • Experience in leading construction related panels with internal and external stakeholders
  • A strong and positive communicator able to navigate through complex technical issues
