Stats NZ has partnered with Madison and we’re excited to be recruiting Census Collectors to support the upcoming 2021 Census Test. During this important event, you’ll be responsible for getting out and about in your community. You’ll be on your feet, walking the streets going from door to door to deliver census materials. You’ll have the confidence to engage with respondents and have encouraging conversations with the community and provide the support required to make sure they can take part.

Working within the Kirikiriroa (Hamilton) and Raahui Pookeka (Huntly) regions, these roles have a focus on improving response rates for Māori, Pacific and culturally diverse communities. You’ll need to be available from 9 February 2021 until 1 April 2021
 
With the flexibility to choose your own working hours, you can make this assignment work for you! Preference will be given to applicants who are able to complete some of their work in the evenings and at weekends; as people are more likely to be at home and available during these times.
You can choose between a 15 hour and a 40 hour work week. No work will take place on Wednesdays.
 
Work Pattern

There are no fixed daily normal working hours. However, you are required to complete your work duties within the hours detailed below:

• Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, anytime between 9:30am and 7pm
• Sundays, anytime between 10am and 4pm

 
Ideally, the majority of your hours will be worked during the following times to maximise contact with people at the households you visit:

• Monday to Friday, between 4pm and 7pm
• Saturdays, between 9:30am and 7pm
• Sundays, between 10am and 4pm

• Training: online and face-to-face begins early February 2021
• Field work: 15 February – 1 April 2021
• Hourly rate for Census Collectors is $22.10 and you will receive an additional completion payment at the end of your temporary assignment
  

As a Census Collector you’ll have:

• A good knowledge of your regional geography and be physically fit, able to walk long distances daily
• Previous experience in a customer-focused role e.g retail, hospitality, call centre, customer service or research
• Daily access to Wi-Fi
• A valid New Zealand Driver Licence (minimum of restricted)
• Access to a car with current WOF and registration
• New Zealand Citizenship or Permanent Residency or a valid Work Permit
