Senior Payroll

My client is a highly sought-after Ministry and they are looking for their next Senior Payroll Administrator to join the team on a 12 month fixed term contract.

About the role

The role is responsible for administering and supporting the Payroll Team to deliver the fortnightly payroll for 1200 employees. In addition, you will processing general payroll transactions, for example; allowances, timesheets, new employees and offshore transactions and will respond to payroll queries, participate in team projects and some HR administration and coordination tasks.

This role is for a fixed term of 12 months to assist the Payroll Manager in providing an efficient and reliable payroll service to all Ministry staff located both in New Zealand and overseas in line with established policies and procedures, and relevant statutory and contractual requirements. The Senior Payroll Administrator will take on work that allows the Payroll Manager and other members of the payroll team to focus on our upcoming Payroll replacement tool project and the implementation of our new HRIS – Success Factors.

What we are looking for

  • An experienced payroll administrator with demonstrated experience, skills and attitudes in the following areas:
  • At least 5 years Payroll processing experience
  • A sound understanding and knowledge of NZ Payroll Legislation
  • Experience in interpreting and applying the Holidays Act (2003), Parental Leave, ACC, Kiwisaver and other legislation
  • Proven adaptability – confidence in making multiple changes and processing fortnightly pays
  • A general understanding of international exchange rates
