Are you a people-focussed individual who thrives on benefiting your community? Do you want to play a key role in the sustainability of New Zealand’s marine life? Be proud of your contribution by helping the Ministry of Primary Industries to ensure the sustainable future of New Zealand’s fisheries.
This is a nationwide project, and we are seeking people from all over New Zealand to take part!
The Role
You will be responsible for getting out and about in your local community, visiting pre-allocated addresses to gather demographic information and enrol eligible fishers to take part in the National Survey of Recreational Fishers. You’ll have the confidence to engage with respondents and have encouraging conversations with members of the community around the purpose and importance of this survey.
National Research Bureau (NRB) has partnered with Madison, and we’re excited to be recruiting surveyors to help with this important and meaningful research. The National Survey of Recreational Fishers is initiated and sponsored by the Ministry for Primary Industries. Surveying recreational fishers’ catch is vital to the assessment of the stock of marine species in New Zealand’s coastal waters. This survey is run every 5-6 years and collects fishing information from marine recreational fishers which helps towards the future decision making for fisheries management.
