Open.
Approachable.
Out-of-the-box thinkers.

These are all words you’ll hear people use to describe the team at The Ministry for Pacific Peoples. And for very good reason. Their approach to delivering on their vision of ‘Prosperous Pacific Peoples’ starts with the close relationship they have with the communities they serve. It’s a refreshing way to work, and one that we know is a genuine point of difference.

The Ministry’s staff have specialised knowledge of the areas that are most important to Pacific communities. They come from a diverse range of backgrounds – but what unites them is the way they place the aspirations of Pacific peoples firmly at the heart of their thinking, and their decision-making.

Their agility means that decisions can be made quickly and projects can be delivered at pace. Over the past year the Ministry has talked to more than 2,500 Pacific peoples about what it means to be Pacific in Aotearoa – both today, and in the future. Listening, and then acting, is fundamental to realising their goals.

The Ministry is dedicated to providing a positive and encouraging workplace, where people can realise their potential through a range of career pathways, and where they can reinforce the strong links they have with their communities. And, you also may be interested to know that many of their staff are bilingual, which helps build even stronger relationships with Pacific communities. For those that do not speak a Pacific language, the Ministry offers access to classes should you wish to learn.

People who choose to join the Ministry work hard, look after one another, and are always looking for new and better ways to deliver their vision. What’s more, it’s a fun place to work. Rarely does a week go by without some form of celebration. At the heart of this dedication is an unwavering focus on the communities the Ministry serves.
